It is rumored that chairs were asked to cut their adjunct budget 35% for winter and spring. From what is unclear.

Why is this happening? Instead of raising revenue from those who can afford it, the state may enact cuts as high as $95 million from CUNY’s budget. And note, if CUNY were simply funded at the same per-student rate it received in the 1990s, its budget would be a billion dollars greater than it is now. Before 1975, a bachelor’s degree was free to residents of New York City; now it costs $6,930 in-state and $18,600 out-of-state.
